Overview - ThinkPad T21, T22
Applicable countries and regions
Overview
The new ThinkPad T21 and T22 systems support features and options that are common with the ThinkPad A21p and A21m. Features include the Ultrabay2000 and the UltraPort on selected models. Options such as memory, port replication, and docking are available.

The ThinkPad T21 and T22 is 33.1 mm (1.3 in) thin (7) with optimal travel configurations weighing 2.1 kg (4.6 lb)(8). Its dimensions are 304 x 250 mm (12.0 x 9.8 in). The new titanium composite cover gives you added strength (11).

All ThinkPad T21 and T22 models come with an UltraPort connector on the edge of the top panel. This innovative port supports an optional digital camera and power-management functions required by Bluetooth wireless options (available fourth quarter 2000). The location of the port allows optimal performance for both applications.

General
  1. MHz only measures microprocessor internal clock speed, not application performance. Many factors affect application performance. For Intel Mobile Pentium III processors with SpeedStep technology, MHz speed denotes maximum performance mode; battery-optimized performance mode is approximately 80% of maximum performance.
  2. GB equals one billion bytes when referring to hard disk. Accessible capacity may vary.
  3. The V.90 modem can receive data at up to 56 Kbps from a compatible service provider and transmit data at up to 31.2 Kbps. Public networks currently limit maximum download speeds to about 53 Kbps. Actual speeds depend on many factors and are often less than the maximum possible.
  4. External device must support the same maximum resolution and refresh rate as that of the built-in notebook display. Available
video memory may limit resolution and/or color depth. Individual application support for this feature will vary.
  5. Variable read rate. Actual playback speed will vary and is often less than the maximum possible.
  6. Refer to the Statement of Limited Warranty for terms governing support obligations. For a copy of the Statement of Limited Warranty, customers can contact their authorized Business Partner or customer representative.

    United States, Canada
Copies of the Statement of Limited Warranty can be obtained by contacting your reseller or calling IBM. In the United States, call IBM at 1-800-426-7378. In Canada, call IBM at 1-800-565-3344.

  7. Thickness may vary at certain points on the system.
  8. Actual weight may vary depending on vendor components, or manufacturing process, or options. Weight includes battery and optional travel bezel.
  9. Recognizes up to 512 MB of addressable memory in models with the Mobile Pentium III processor. Memory options up to 256 MB SDRAM SO DIMMs each can be added in the two available slots for memory expansion.
  10. Titanium composite fiber reinforced plastic has three times the strength of ABS plastic as tested by IBM using high flex modulus test on February 28, 2000.

Features

Latest processor technology
  • The new ThinkPad T21, T22 features the Intel(R) Mobile Pentium(R) III processor at 750 MHz, 800 MHz, 850 MHz, 900 MHz, or 1 GHz plus 256 KB of onboard cache, and floating-point decimal for exceptional performance. All models include Intel SpeedStep(TM) technology with two performance modes:
    • Maximum performance mode for top performance while connected to AC external power using the AC power adapter.
    • Battery-optimized performance mode for balance between performance and battery life when operating on battery power. In this mode the MHz speed is reduced to approximately 80% of the maximum performance with approximately 50% of the power consumption to conserve battery power.

  • Designed to the WfM 2.0 and PXE 2.0 manageability requirements for mobile systems (T22 systems).
  • Supports UM Services, a comprehensive set of superior, standards-based PC hardware manageability tools that work with and complement existing systems management products
  • Complies with the industry-standard Common Information Model
  • Designed to the Wired for Management baseline requirements for mobile systems
  • Local and remote asset management, and early detection of hard drive failure via UM Services(TM)
  • Remote setup and low-level maintenance via LANClient Control Manager(TM)
  • Asset and data security via multiple passwords and locks
  • Asset ID, an advanced radio-frequency-based tool, secures and protects assets, keeps accurate inventories, and facilitates fast deployment of your ThinkPad systems into the enterprise.

Note: Asset ID allows your computer to be "scanned " by various radio-frequency-emitting devices that must be purchased separately from independent companies. For a list of current Asset ID partners, visit: http://www.ibm.com/pc/us/desktop/assetid

Asset ID requires the separate purchase of the ThinkPad RF-ID antenna option and is available for all T21, T22 systems.
